Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2017 closes after four days

The biennial Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2017 concluded on June 13 after four days featuring 50 cultural, sports and tourism activities.

The closing ceremony took place at April 2 Square in Nha Trang on the evening of June 13 featuring a special art performance with the participation of domestic and international artists along with thousands of audience members.

The event, which was held for the eighth time, has become a significant festival for the local people as well as friends from other provinces and the international community.

Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa provincial People's Committee Nguyen Dac Tai affirmed at the closing ceremony that this year's festival along with a wide range of activities brought wonderful experiences to both local people and tourists.

It can be said that the sea festival is a cultural and artistic feast for visitors, helping them to gain a better understanding about the beautiful land and friendly people of Khanh Hoa, Tai said.

The highlight of the event was a salangane nest festival, an international cuisine festival, street parades and performances of folk games which feature cultural characteristics and traditions of the coastal community.

During the four-day event from June 10-13, Khanh Hoa attracted nearly 120,000 visitors, including 13,000 foreign visitors, up 44% compared to the festival in 2015, according to the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture and Sports.

The province also posted a tourist revenue of VND165 billion (US$7.26 million), an increase of 25% compared to the 2015 edition.

The Khanh Hoa provincial People's Committee also presented certificates of merit to 25 enterprises for sponsoring the festival, raising over VND18 billion (US$792,000) in total.
