The two-day event features 50 stalls from 18 countries around the world, including Laos, France, China, Thailand, Australia and Indonesia and Vietnam.
Out of the culinary stalls, 25 present typical and traditional dishes of Hanoi such as com (green sticky rice) from Me Tri district, Pho, nem ran (spring roll), bun oc (vermicelli with shellfish soup) and banh day (round glutinous rice cake).
Festival goers also have a chance to enjoy unique arts performances by artists from different countries, creating a cultural space imbued with the friendship among the participating countries.
In addition, visitors can join in numerous folk games such as nhay sap (bamboo pole dance), ca kheo (walking on stilts), nhay bao bo (bag jumping), keo co (tug of war) and nhay day (skipping rope).
Addressing the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi municipal People’s Committee, Ngo Van Quy said that the exchange programme aims to honour and exploit the strengths of the culinary culture of Vietnam, as well as other countries.
The event is also expected to enhance exchanges and cooperation in the culinary culture field between Hanoi and participating countries, contributing to better serving the culinary demand of local people, as well as international friends who are living and working in Vietnam’s capital city.
