Over VND6 trillion to upgrade airport infrastructure

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has planned to carry out six infrastructure projects with total investment of VND6.05 trillion (US$266.2 million) in 2017.

Of the sum, VND2 trillion (US$88 million) has been earmarked for the second phase of expansion of the Tan Son Nhat airport’s international terminal.

Another VND2 trillion will be used to expand terminals and apron of the airport in the southern resort island of Phu Quoc, so that it can serve 5 million passengers per year, meeting the demand of the increasing flow of tourists to the southern island.

Meanwhile, the Noi Bai international airport in Hanoi is set to receive VND1.2 trillion (US$52.8 million) for upgrading works.

This year, the ACV aims to welcome 27 million international and 64 million domestic arrivals, while total cargo throughout is expected to reach 1.18 million tones.

It also targets to increase total flights for 2017 by 11 percent from last year to 617,000.
