Its construction started in February 2018 at a cost of over VND52.9 billion (US$2.27 million) sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The project includes a 400m ironwood-floored pedestrian bridge, a wharf, an outdoor stage, lighting and traffic systems and a pedestrian street along the Perfume riverbank from Phu Xuan bridge to Festival restaurant.

The road aims to connect Nguyen Dinh Chieu pedestrian street with Ly Tu Trong Park.

The bridge’s parquet floor, costing VND5.14 billion (around US$220,600), uses ironwood which is said to be suitable to the city’s landscape and weather. The KOICA management board said the natural material is easy to process, woodworm-free, non-distorted in hot and humid weather, and has good bearing capacity.

The road is part of a planning project for 15 km of the Perfume riverbanks from Vong Canh hill to Bao Vinh ancient street. The project is estimated to cost US$6 million funded by KOICA as non-refundable assistance.
