Vietjet Air launches route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Osaka

Vietnam’s new-generation airline Vietjet Air held a ceremony at Japan’s Kansai International on December 14, to officially launch its new air route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and the Japanese city of Osaka, which aims to contribute to facilitating tourism, trade exchanges and integration between the two countries and throughout the region.

Addressing the event, Gregory Jamet, Chief Commercial Officer at Kansai Airports, expressed his honour as Kansai Airport continues to be chosen as Vietjet’s destination in Japan after the opening of the Hanoi-Osaka route in November.

“We expect that the airline will continue to expand its flight network from and to Kansai Airport, thus delivering much more convenience and exciting experiences to the passengers,” he said.

The HCM City-Osaka route will operate daily return flights from December 14, 2018, with a flight time of more than five hours per leg. The flight departs HCM City at 1.40am daily and arrives in Osaka at 8.30am (local time). The return flight takes off in Osaka at 9.30am and lands at HCM City at 1.30pm (all local times). According to Vietjet Air, passengers on the flight from HCM City to Osaka will be treated to cosplay performances imbued with the Japanese culture and receive exciting souvenirs from the airline.

Earlier, Vietjet Air started operating the Hanoi-Osaka route on November 8, 2018. The flight leaves Hanoi at 1.40am and descends in Osaka at 7.50 (all local time). The return flight departs from Osaka at 9.20am and arrives in Hanoi at 1.05pm (all local time).

Currently, the airline is exploiting 60 A320 and A321 aircraft which conduct over 385 flights per day. Vietjet has carried more than 65 million passengers, with 104 air routes, covering destinations in Vietnam, and other international routes to Japan, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia and China, among others.
