Vietnam welcomes first international visitors in 2019

Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, as well as many provinces and cities, organised ceremonies to welcome their first international visitors, on January 1.

The first group of foreign visitors arrived at Noi Bai airport in the capital at 6:45 am on Flight VN36 from Frankfurt (Germany) and later, at 7:35 am, another group arrived at Tan Son Nhat airport in the southern hub on Flight VN30, also from Frankfurt.

They arrived to warm welcome ceremonies hosted by the leading officials of the two cities and representatives of the airline who described it as ushering in a new year full of bright prospects for the tourism and aviation industries of the two cities in particular and the whole country in general.

Speaking at the Hanoi ceremony, Deputy ECO of the Vietnam Airlines Trinh Ngoc Thanh said the carrier is proud to serve as a bridge connecting Vietnam and the rest of the world, as well as an “ambassador” of Vietnamese tourism that helps to popularise the country’s image to foreign friends. He also pledged better services to customers through the implementation of the airline’s long-term investment strategy and development.

Meanwhile, the central province of Thua Thien – Hue held a dragon dancing performance at the Phu Bai International Airport and presented keepsakes to the passengers who came to the central province on the first day of 2019 on a Vietnam Airline flight en route from Hanoi.

The ceremony opened a series of local culture- sport-tourism activities set for 2019, including the Hue traditional handicraft festival, Hue international marathon day, and Coupe De Hue Cycle Race 2019.

On the same day, many localities, such as Quang Binh, Da Nang, Phu Yen also welcomed domestic and international visitors.
