Festival highlights ethnic minority culture in Binh Phuoc

The four-day festival featured various cultural activities and objects of 41 ethnic minority groups in the locality, with the aim of raising awareness of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the nation.

The festival also reserved a space to display the traditional cuisine of ethnic minority groups such as Khmer, S’tieng, Tay, Nung, Thai and others, which attracted much attention from visitors.

Typical images and artifacts used in the daily life of ethnic minority people were also showcased at the event, including gongs, brocade weaving frames, mortars, rice pestles, jars, pots, traditional costumes, and musical instruments, in addition to the reproduction of folk rituals and traditional ceremonies.

Nearly 1,000 ethnic minority artists and athletes participated in cultural and sporting activities during the four-day festival, such as performances of traditional costumes and dishes and competitions of football, volleyball, tug of war, stilts, crossbow shooting, running, and others.

According to Director of Binh Phuoc provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Toursim, Tran Van Chung, the festival is expected to create a playground for ethnic minority groups to introduce and promote their unique cultural identity, thus contributing to enhancing public awareness of preserving cultural values and boosting national solidarity.
