Visitors flock to tourist attractions to enjoy holidays

Tourist attractions nationwide were crowded with domestic and foreign visitors during the holiday of the 44th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30) and the 133rd anniversary of May Day (May 1).

During the holiday, the south-central coastal province of Phu Yen attracted 42,165 tourists, up 20 percent year-on-year, including some 580 foreigners, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported.

The department has coordinated with localities and travel companies to organise various activities on this occasion such as culinary festivals at major hotels, a kite-flying festival and a street music festival.

Meanwhile, many interesting events were organised in Da Nang city and the city’s tourist destinations. The programme of Da Nang beach tourism season 2019 is filled with attractive activities such as displaying recycled products from garbage, a chess competition at Ban Co peak (Chess Board Peak) in Son Tra peninsula, a swimming competition for sea lovers, performing kite art, and exploring the night sky through telescopes.

In particular, the air balloon show on April 30 and May 1 attracted a large number of tourists at the Bien Dong (East Sea) Park. The International Hot Air Balloon Festival 2019 was held with the participation of 15 pilots from Thailand, the Republic of Korea, Japan, the Netherlands and the host Vietnam.

According to the Tourism Department of the central city of Da Nang, during the holidays of April 30 and May 1, the total number of tourists visiting Da Nang is estimated at 375,000, increasing by 5% over the same period in 2018, in which international visitors were estimated at 114,000 people and domestic visitors were estimated to have reached 259,000 people.

The total number of tourists staying in Danang is estimated at 153,942 visitors, an increase of 20.8% compared to the same period in 2018, in which international visitors were estimated at 72,343 people, an increase of 31.7%, and domestic visitors were estimated at 81,599 people, an increase of 12.5%.

* Information from the Lam Dong provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism states that during the five-day holidays, the number of tourists visiting Da Lat, Lam Dong province, is estimated at 115,000, increasing by 4.5% over the same period in 2018. In particular, guests staying totaled about 105,000 arrivals, up 5% over the same period.

* According to the report of Nghe An provincial Department of Tourism, during the holidays, the total number of tourists visiting Nghe An’s tourist destinations is estimated at over half a million visitors, mainly tourists from the northern provinces and domestic tourists.

In particular, the number of visitors is estimated at over 170,000, with international visitors at nearly 2,200. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND280 billion.

* On May 1, Thanh Hoa provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that during the holidays, Thanh Hoa received 1,450-thousand tourists, an increase of 38, 6% year-on-year, including 6,900 international tourists traveling in Thanh Hoa. Total tourism revenue reached VND 2,780 billion, up nearly 40% compared to the same period in 2018.

* According to statistics of Quang Ninh Tourism Department from April 27 to May 1, the number of tourists visiting detinations in the province increased sharply, reaching 625,400 arrivals, up 18% year-on-year.
