National Tourism Year kicks off in Nha Trang city

A ceremony was held in the south central coastal city of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province on May 11, to officially open the National Tourism Year 2019 and Nha Trang Sea Festival.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, among others.

The main events of the National Tourism Year and Nha Trang Sea Festival are being held at the April 2 Square in Nha Trang city, such as the opening ceremony, an art programme honouring Vietnamese seas and islands, a concert themed ‘A Colourful World’ and the closing ceremony.

In addition, as many as 50 cultural, art and sporting programmes, tourism promotion events, seminars and fairs will take place in the city and several other localities in Khanh Hoa province.

The art programme at the opening ceremony was divided into two parts, themed ‘Khanh Hoa - The convergence of quintessence’ and ‘Nha Trang – the colour of sea’.

With the harmonious combination between tradition and modernity, the programme recalled the construction and defence of the sacred sovereignty of the country and praised love and friendliness.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam affirmed that Khanh Hoa has gradually become one of the most famous destinations in the country.

He asked the province to pay greater attention to further investment for the local tourism sector’s development, commensurate with the potential and advantages.

The closing ceremony for the Nha Trang Sea Festival will be held on May 14.
