Vice Chairman of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu said that the event followsthe success of the programme on boosting Vietnamesetourism and the signing of an MoU on tourism cooperation between VNAT and Sichuan Department of Culture and Tourism in Sichuan on May 17.
Sieu emphasised that destinations in Sichuan are veryattractive to Vietnamese tourists and vice versa thanks to similarities in culture and having flights of only two hoursbetween Sichuan and Vietnam.
With commitments in the MoU, the two sides will create favourable conditions for travel enterprises of both sides to increase exchanges and numbers of tourists to both Sichuan and Vietnamese localities.
Sichuan is well-known for having more than 600 tourism attractions which received over 700 million visitors in 2018.
The province is famous for its wonderful natural heritages, including Jiuzhaigou Valley, Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, Leshan Giant Buddha, Mount Emei, and Wenshu Monastery, among others. The locality is also the origin of tea ceremony culture and possesses the richest and most delicate cuisine in China.
Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan, is an ancient city with an over 3,000-year history. It is also one of the cities with the highest happiness index in the world. The airport in Chengdu welcomed more than 50 million visitors in 2018.
Vietnam’s large cities, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang and Da Nang, all have direct air routes to Chengdu, facilitating the travel of tourists.
Also within the programme, the Organising Boardintroduced preferential policies for Vietnamese travel companies when introducing Sichuan tourism to tourists.
The event was jointly held by Sichuan Department of Culture and Tourism and Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
