According to Tran Vinh Tuyen, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, to develop smart tourism requires the involvement and coordination among four factors, including State management agencies, businesses, tourists, and those working in the hospitality sector.

Each of the four factors must equip itself with innovative initiatives, he stressed, adding that the ecosystem of smart tourism is the smart combination of the four factors.

Under the theme ‘Smart tourism: Innovate the Journeys’, the conference presented 20 speeches by both domestic and foreign experts, who shared their experience in destination management and assistance to tourists around the world.

They also suggested models and solutions to develop smart tourism in Ho Chi Minh City and proposed ways to optimise the tourists’ experiences before, during and after their trips through smart travel apps as well as to promote the cultural and historical values of destinations.

Addressing the event, Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party’s Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan highly appreciated opinions shared by the participating experts, which helped to assess the current situation of the world’s tourism and assist the city in realising its tourism development strategy.

He asked the city’s hospitality sector to lure more attention and investment from businesses in developing smart tourism.

The development of smart tourism must ensure the people’s interests without any negative impacts on the living condition of the community, he noted.
