The suspension is considered necessary for the safety of the people and for the tourism industry to adjust its policies in the future.
The stimulus programme had been implemented with responses from hundreds of travel agencies, two airlines namely Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways, the four provinces of Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen, among others, but it has to be suspended.
Travel agencies say that due to new developments regarding the epidemic, localities across the country have simultaneously stopped receiving tourists at various destinations, historical relics, museums and restaurants. In addition, tourists have shown their anxiety regarding travel and most of them have cancelled pre-booked tours.
Thus, travel enterprises have agreed to temporarily stop providing stimulus and other domestic tours.
Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association Vu The Binh said that the suspension of stimulus tours at this time is necessary, noting that the association continues to maintain the tourism stimulus alliance and encourage enterprises to build new tourism products and services as the stimulus programme will resume once the epidemic is under control.
Almost all provinces and cities nationwide have temporarily stopped welcoming international tourists and tourists to islands in addition to closing bars, karaoke services, restaurants, cinemas, relic sites, and others.
