NDO - The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Tourism Department of Kien Giang Province held a programme designed to simulate tourism in Phu Quoc on November 22.

The event is part of the domestic tourism stimulus programme entitled “Safe and attractive Vietnam tourism” initiated by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

Phu Quoc Island is the first destination in Vietnam selected to organise its own tourism stimulus programme with the participation of large enterprises and KOLs (key opinion leaders)

Approximately 150 guests, large enterprises in the areas of aviation, tourism, travel, and hotels along with experts and KOLs participated in the event, which is expected to give a boost to Phu Quoc to develop its tourism in this period.

Director of Kien Giang Department of Tourism Tran Chi Dung said that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Phu Quoc received 2.9 million visitors in the first 10 months of 2020. The island is expected to welcome over 3 million visitors in 2020.

Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu said that given the recent context, domestic tourists are the top priority of Phu Quoc and the success of domestic tourism stimulation needs the participation of all partners in the tourism ecosystem including localities, tourism management agencies, tourism enterprises, travel enterprises and others.

He noted that Vietnam continues to promote its safe and attractive destinations while standing ready to receive international visitors.
