International visitors to Vietnam increased slightly in November

The number of international visitors to Vietnam reached17,7000 in November, up 19.6% over the last month but down 99% over the same period last year due to the implementation of COVID-19 prevention and control measures.

The information was officially announced by the General Statistics Office on November 29.

The international visitors to Vietnam in November included foreign experts and technical workers working on projects in Vietnam and drivers transporting goods at border gates.

Visitors were mainly from China, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Laos, accounting for 75.3% of tourists this month.

Generally, in the 11 months of 2020, Vietnam welcomed 3.8 million, a year-on-year decrease of 76.6%.

Of the total amount of people travel, those going by air reached nearly 3.1 million (down 80.4%), while arrivals by sea were 144,600 (down 37.8%) and by road reached 602,600 (down 80.3%).

Arrivals from Asia were estimated at 2,799,000 accounting for 73.3% of total international tourists to the country and down 78.4% over the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the number of European visitors in the 11 months was 670,700, a year-on-year decline of 66.2%.

The total revenue from tourism is estimated at VND16.6 trillion, down 58.6% from the same period last year.

Vietnam’s tourism sector is making efforts to boost stimulation measures to recover, especially during the last months of the year.
