Hanoi municipal Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Sports, held a ceremony on the morning of January 1 at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature) to welcome the first delegation of visitors to the capital city this year.
The delegation of 20 tourists from Ho Chi Minh City offered incense at the Temple of Literature and enjoyed a unique art programme.

The ceremony to welcome the first visitors to Hanoi in 2021 aimed to contribute to the programme “Vietnamese people travel Vietnam” towards the goal of domestic tourism stimulation in the new normal situation following COVID-19 pandemic.
The event was also a chance to promote the culture and people of the capital city, a political and administrative centre, itself possessing of a diverse and attractive natural resource with high-quality products and services.
* On the morning of the same day, the Vietnam Airlines Group coordinated with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang to welcome the first passengers of the New Year.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the welcome ceremony for the first guests took place at Tan Son Nhat airport, with the welcoming of three simultaneous flights by different airlines, including Vietnam Airlines’ VN7245 from Hanoi, Pacific Airlines’ BL6025 from Hanoi and VASCO’s 0V8080 from Con Dao.
The provinces of Lam Dong, Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang also held ceremonies to welcome the first flights to the localities in the new year.
* Hoi An City People’s Committee held a ceremony on January 1 to welcome the first visitors to the ancient town for the year 2021.

The local authorities hope for a strong development of the tourism sector this year as the COVID-19 pandemic is becoming ever more complicated around the world.
* Also on the same day, Ha Giang provincial People’s Committee welcomed the first tourists entering the locality in 2021. The activity affirmed the province’s message of building Ha Giang as a “friendly, safe and rich identity” destination.
