Of the total number of arrivals, about 2.409 million were international tourists. The province’s total revenue from tourism sector has reached VND4.3billion (about US$208.301), up 22 percent compared to the previous year.
In order to develop the province’s tourism, Quang Ninh province has focused on investment in the entertainment centres at around the Ha Long Bay, which has been recognised twice by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage and also as one of the Seven New Natural Wonders of the World. Diversifying tourism products and improving the quality of tourism services are primary goals.
The province has also constructed the Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh Highway and Van Don airport to connect Quang Ninh to the capital and other neighbouring provinces.
