The event was attended by Party Central Committee (PCC) member and National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu; Vice Chairman of Vietnam Red Cross Society Doan Van Thai; Deputy Editor-in-Chief Phan Huy Hien; Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Director of Nhan Dan TV Dinh Nhu Hoan; Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan; and Deputy Head of the Hanoi People's Council Phung Thi Hong Ha.
The programme featured songs and dances praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the Fatherland and the new spring by popular artists such as Viet Hoan, Pham Phuong Thao, Minh Quan, Minh Thu and the Sao Mai trio.
Speaking at the event, VRCS Vice Chairman Doan Van Thai noted that the recent severe cold has caused serious damage to the poor and he called on more support from individuals and organisations to help them celebrate a warm and happy Tet.
Meanwhile, he also said that charity activities are part of the Vietnamese people’s character, and such activities have significantly contributed to strengthening the community’s solidarity.
The 2017 “Warm Spring” programme raised nearly VND1 billion to support the poor in Hanoi.
At the ceremony, the organising board also launched an SMS campaign to support poor children and households in mountainous areas by texting “TET” to 1402.
