Mozambican Assembly President arrives in Hanoi for official visit
President of the Assembly of Mozambique Esperanca Laurinda Francisco Nhiuane Bias is paying her six-day official visit to Vietnam from June 18-23, at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
This is the first visit to Vietnam by Esperanca Laurinda Francisco Nhiuane Bias in her current post since taking office in January 2020. It is also the first by a president of Mozambique’s legislative body to promote joint works between the two parliaments.

The third session of the 15th National Assembly (NA) concluded in Hanoi on June 16 after 19 working days.
Closing the session, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that the third session was a success with all tasks completed. The NA finished a great workload with high consensus, and decided on many important issues not only for 2022 but the whole 2021-2025 period and following years, he said.
He noted that legislators submitted nearly 1,500 ideas during six group and 23 plenary discussions. The NA debated and adopted five laws, 16 thematic resolutions and a general resolution for the session, while discussing six bills and deciding on many important matters, he added.
FDI lifts Vietnam up global value chain
Vietnam, like many other East and Southeast Asian countries, is further climbing up the global value chain (GVC) thanks to the positive effect of the utilisation of foreign direct investment (FDI), according to the latest report by Hinrich Foundation.
The opportunities are plentiful for countries to move up the global value chain, said Riccardo Crescenzi, Professor of Economic Geography at London School of Economics, at a press conference announcing the report “Climbing up global value chains: Leveraging FDI for economic development” on June 14.

Nhan Dan (People) newspaper held a ceremony at its headquarters in Hanoi on June 15 to honour winners of a photo contest themed 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31).
It attracted enthusiastic participation of both amateur and professional photographers across the country, with more than 800 entries being submitted.
At the award ceremony, the organising board presented one first, two second, three third, and ten consolation prizes to the most outstanding entries.
Vietnam presents precious map to House of European History
Vice President of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam Nguyen Hung Son has presented the “An Nam dai quoc hoa do” (Map of the Great Country of An Nam) to the House of European History in Brussels, Belgium.
The special map, which is 84cm long and 45cm wide, was drawn by Jean Louis Taberd of France and published in India's Serampore in 1838. It depicts the archipelago of “Paracel seu Cat Vang” - Hoang Sa islands within Vietnam’s waters territory.

Bun cha, a Vietnamese signature dish, has been featured in the Platinum Jubilee Cookbook in celebration of Queen Elizabeth's 70 years on the throne.
On Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee, 70 British Embassies and High Commissions have come together from around the world to provide recipes that are served during royal visits.
The bun cha (Vietnamese grilled pork with rice noodles) recipe by chef Do Thi Hai Ly from British Embassy in Hanoi made it into the book.
Vietnamese women's football team ranks 32nd in FIFA rankings
The Vietnam national women’s team sit in 32nd place with 1,655.51 points in the latest FIFA world rankings, which was announced on June 17.
SEA Games are not included in FIFA's scoring system, so the gold medal for coach Mai Duc Chung’s side at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam did have any effect on the FIFA rankings.
Accordingly, Vietnam remained no.1 in Southeast Asia and stood in sixth place in Asia.
