Party chief holds phone talks with CPP President, Cambodian PM
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong on June 27 held phone talks with President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
The phone talks took place on the occasion of the 71st founding anniversary of the CPP (June 28) and the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties, and right after the success of the elections of the fifth-tenure commune and ward councils in Cambodia.

National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue's visits to Hungary and the UK from June 26-30 concluded successfully, thus greatly promoting the Vietnam-Hungary comprehensive partnership and deepening the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership
During the visit, the top legislators of Vietnam and Hungary signed a new cooperation agreement for the new period, aiming to turn the partnership between the two NAs into a model relationship and an important pillar in the Vietnam-Hungary relations.
Meanwhile, during the talks and meetings with the Vietnamese NA Chairman, both Speaker of the UK House of Lords John McFall and Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle highlighted the important role of the two parliaments in promoting the stronger development of the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Vietnam enjoys trade surplus of 710 million USD in six months
Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus of 710 million USD in the first six months of 2022, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported on June 29.
According to the office, in the first half of this year, total import-export revenue is estimated to reach 371.17 billion USD, up 16.4% year on year, with imports of 185.94 billion USD, a rise of 17.3% over the same period last year.
In the period, the domestic economic sector suffered trade deficit of 15.97 billion USD, while the foreign-invested sector saw trade surplus of 16.68 billion USD.
Vietnam’s famous rice gains access to Japan

Tan Long Group JSC, in collaboration with Kiraboshi Bank, held a ceremony in Tokyo on June 30 to introduce ST25 rice, which was named the world’s best rice in 2019, to the Japanese market.
Vietnam is one of the world’s leading rice exporters, and the country’s grain has been available in more than 100 markets over the world. But it is the first time the ST25 rice has been shipped to Japan.
Thua Thien-Hue: Ancient Cham tower announced as world record
The History Museum of the central province of Thua Thien - Hue on June 27 held a ceremony to announce the national and world records for the local Phu Dien Cham Tower, as it has been recognised the first ancient Cham tower sinking deep under the coastal sand dunes to be excavated and preserved in Vietnam and the world.
In April 2001, the tower was discovered in the coastal sand dunes of Phu Dien commune, Phu Vang district. It is buried in the sand from 5-7m under the ground.
Vietnamese second most interested in Asia-Pacific in travelling post-pandemic

Vietnamese travellers are the second most interested in Asia-Pacific (APAC) in travelling in post-pandemic period, with some 85 percent of respondents from the country planning a trip in the next 12 months, a survey by Booking.com found.
Vietnam is closely behind India that is leading the way in the inaugural APAC Traveller Confidence Index survey by the US-based online travel agency that polled 11,000 travellers across 11 countries and territories in the region from April to May. China came in third.
The survey provides an insight into regional travellers’ comfort level to explore the world and whether they are excited about domestic travel after the pandemic.
Vietnam racks up two gold medals at World Para Athletics Grand Prix
Vietnamese para-athletes bagged two golds, four silvers and three bronze medals after three days of competition at the 2022 World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Tunisia, from June 27 to 29.
The two gold medals were won by Nguyen Ngoc Hiep in the men’s 400m T11 event and Tran Van Nguyen in the men’s javelin F40 category.
Vietnam’s silver medals went to Tran Van Nguyen (men’s shot put F40), Pham Nguyen Khanh Minh (men’s 400m T12, 100m T12) and Cao Ngoc Hung (men’s javelin F57).
The bronze medallists included Nguyen Thi Hai (women’s discus F57, shot put F56/F57) and Nguyen Ngoc Hiep (men’s 100m T11).
