President of Council of States of Switzerland visits Vietnam

President of Council of States of Switzerland, Ivo Bischofberger paid an official visit to Vietnam from March 28-31 at the invitation of Chairwoman of the National Assembly, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

During his four-day stay, Bischofberger held talks with NA Chairwoman Ngan, paid a courtesy visit to President Tran Dai Quang and worked with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Education and Training. At meetings, the two sides expressed their delight at the fine relations between the two countries in the fields of politics, foreign affairs, trade, investment and development cooperation.Bischofberger laid a wreath and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and visited Uncle Ho’s stilt house at the Presidential Palace, as well as the NA building.

Int’l expo highlights cutting-edge maritime products and technology

The 6th edition of the Leading & Definitive International Maritime Expo in Vietnam (INMEX Vietnam 2017) was held at Saigon Exhibition & Convention Centre on March 29 - 31, featuring the latest maritime products, services and technology.

This was the largest maritime exhibition of its kind to be held in Vietnam and the Indochina region with more than 300 pavilions. INMEX 2017 gathered cutting-edge technologies and state of the art equipment as well as products and services of leading maritime companies across the world such as B. Hepworth & Co, ChartCo, Haes Systems, among others. The event also featured ocean technology, port services, logistics, shipbuilding, offshore technology, and so on.

This special event of the global maritime community presented a golden opportunity for Vietnamese maritime companies to promote co-operation and technology transfer as well as seeking trading partners.

HVACR Vietnam 2017 held in HCMC

The 11th International Exhibition on Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Air Filtration & Purification and Refrigeration Systems (HVACR Vietnam 2017) was held at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Centre from March 29- 31.

The event attracted the participation of 250 companies from Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan (China), Thailand, China, India, Indonesia, Turkey and Vietnam.

The exhibition showcased equipment and technology which contributes to ensuring convenience, safety and energy saving.

International trade fair for laboratory technology opens

The fifth International Trade Fair for Laboratory Technology, Analysis, Biotechnology and Diagnostics (Analytica Vietnam 2017) officially opened in Hanoi from March 29 – 31.

The event provided a good opportunity for local organisations and individuals to directly forge links with suppliers from developed countries.

Analytica Vietnam 2017 introduced equipment and services relating to quality analysis, measurement, examination and management technologies, and lab and bio-technology from 100 domestic and foreign exhibitors.

Vietnam - Germany Friendship Association of Thua Thien - Hue established

The first congress of the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association in the central province of Thua Thien Hue for the 2017-2022 term took place in Hue city on March 31.

At the congress, the Vietnam - Germany Friendship Association of Thua Thien - Hue was set up with an aim to continue to strengthen and foster friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

The congress elected Nguyen Vu Quoc Huy, vice Rector of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, as President of the 21-member Executive Committee for 2017-2022.

Olympic Day Run for public health observed nationwide

The 2017 Olympic Day Run for public health was launched in Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Ho Chi Minh City and many provinces and cities throughout the country from March 18-27.

The event also helped to promote the movement requiring the public to take part in physical activities following the example of Uncle Ho, while creating habits of physical exercise and sports among the people, thereby building a healthy lifestyle and cultural environment and consolidating the great national unity bloc.

About 7 million people participated in the event.

Various activities to commemorate Hung Kings

Numerous celebratory activities are taking place in northern Phu Tho Province from April 1 to 6 (fifth day to the tenth day of the third lunar month) to commemorate the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of Van Lang – the first known State of Vietnam.

Sapa hosts Rhododendron flower festival

The 2017 'Do quyen' (Rhododendron) Flower Festival is taking place from March 31 to April 9 in Sapa in the northern mountain province of Lao Cai.

More than 1,000 colourful flowers, including numerous valuable species considered part of Vietnam’s heritage, are being introduced to visitors.

The festival is one of the floral tourism event under the programme “Northwestern Colours,” in response to the 2017 National Tourism Year. This is the largest-scale event honouring the special flowers of the northwestern region in Lao Cai.
