Vietnam Fatherland Front convenes ninth national congress

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) convened its ninth National Congress for the 2019-2024 tenure.

The ninth-tenure committee will have a 62-member presidium and a six-member standing board. President of the 8th-tenure VFF Central Committee Tran Thanh Man will continue to hold this post for the 9th tenure. Hau A Lenh, Vice President and Secretary General in the last tenure, will also serve in these positions for another term.

NA Standing Committee’s 37th session wraps up

The National Assembly Standing Committee concluded its 37th session in Hanoi under the chair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

The committee gave opinions to 13 draft laws and discussed important contents, which will be submitted to the NA at its upcoming eighth sitting.

Vietnam ranked in top countries for investment

A recent report by the US News and World Report ranked Vietnam 8th out of 29 economies, up from 23rd last year.

Meanwhile, some neighbouring nations – Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia – stood in the thirteenth, fourteenth and eighteenth positions, respectively.

The 2019 Vietnam Reform and Development Forum, themed “Vietnam: Aspiration for Prosperity – Priority and Actions”, was held in Hanoi.

The topics for discussion at the VRDF 2019 covered the reform of the market economy institution, innovation to overcome the middle income trap in the era of Industry 4.0, and priorities and actions to build a more prosperous Vietnam.

Muong Lo Cultural – Tourism Festival opens in Yen Bai Province

The 2019 Muong Lo Cultural – Tourism and Mu Cang Chai Terraced Fields Festival opened in Nghia Lo Town, in the northern province of Yen Bai on September 20.

The six-day event features special performances, especially a mass performance of a Xoe folk dance featuring the participation of 5,000 people.

The activities highlighting the cultural values of people from all ethnic groups in the localities are expected to attract numerous visitors.

HCM City becomes first locality in Vietnam to get 5G service

The Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) announced that it has started providing 5G service and put into operation the infrastructure of Internet of Things (IoT) in Ho Chi Minh City.

The firm also officially put into use 1,000 broadcasting stations to create a coverage area connecting millions of IoT devices (narrow-band Internet of Things (NB-IoT), thus supporting all social activities such as transportation, electricity, water, applications and service.

Vietnam nominated in six categories of world travel awards

Vietnam has been listed among nominees in six world-leading categories of the annual prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA) 2019.

Accordingly, the country has been nominated for the World’s Leading Destination, Culinary Destination and Cultural Destination awards.

In addition, Hanoi and Hoi An were chosen to race for the titles of World’s Leading City Destination and World’s Leading Cultural City Destination, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism is also in the running for the World’s Leading Tourist Board.

Vietnamese photographer Le Van Vinh has won the first prize in the ‘people in nature’ category at the 2019 global photo contest launched by The Nature Conservancy for his photo titled ‘Dance in the Sea’.

The photo is about the activity of a fisherman in Hon Yen, the south-central coastal province of Phu Yen.

The competition consists of five categories, including wildlife, water, people in nature, cities and nature, and landscape.

Vietnam leads Southeast Asia in latest FIFA rankings despite falling two spots

Vietnam national team still lead Southeast Asia in the latest FIFA rankings with a wide distance ahead other regional rivals, despite having fallen two spots.

Vietnamese team dropped two places from 97th to 99th and ranked 16th in Asia. This is an unexpected result as coach Park Hang-seo’s side had a goalless draw against Thailand at the FIFA World Cup 2022 Asian qualifiers early this month, while other rivals had important victories.
