PM leaves for ASEAN-RoK Commemorative Summit, Mekong-RoK Summit and official visit to the RoK

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his spouse and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on November 24 to attend the 2019 ASEAN-RoK Commemorative Summit and the first Mekong-RoK Summit, and to pay an official visit to the RoK from November 24-28, at the invitation of RoK President Moon Jae-in.

During the trip made PM Phuc will attend the ASEAN-Republic of Korea (RoK) Commemorative Summit in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the two sides’ dialogue relations and the first Mekong-RoK Summit in Busan City.

He will also take part in the ASEAN-RoK CEO Summit, the Innovation Showcase 2019, and the ASEAN-RoK Startup Expo, as well as hold meetings with Busan leaders.

After the events, PM Phuc will pay an official visit to the RoK.

Peacekeepers sent off to UN mission

The Ministry of Defence held a ceremony to send 29 staff of Vietnam’s Level-2 Field Hospital No. 2 to South Sudan to join UN peacekeeping mission.

Addressing the event, Rear Admiral Nguyen Trong Binh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army expressed his hope that they will promote solidarity and mutual support to complete all assigned tasks with utmost safety.

Vietnam posts import-export revenue of over US$428 billion in 10 months

Vietnam reported US$428.63 billion worth of import and export revenue in the first 10 months of 2019, up 8% compared to the same period in 2018.

Of the total, foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises posted total import and export revenue of US$271.13 billion while the remaining amount came from domestic enterprises.

Vietnamese Teachers' Day celebrated nationwide

Vietnam Film Festival opens in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province

The 21st Vietnam Film Festival – 2019 officially opened in Vung Tau City, the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau.

As many as 104 movies were selected for the competition and screening during the festival.

Accordingly, 74 most outstanding entries will be competed for awards in four categories, including 16 feature films, 29 documentaries, 20 cartoons and 9 scientific films.

Vietnam retain Group G’s top spot after goalless draw against Thailand

Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam blocked a penalty and made a number of brilliant saves as Vietnam played out another goalless draw against Thailand on matchday six of the 2022 World Cup Asian qualifiers round two in Hanoi on November 19.

Vietnamese players created a bunch of opportunities throughout the clash and managed to find the back of the net twice, but they were denied by referee Ahmed Al-Kaf who made controversial decisions in both cases.

The goalless score remained unchanged until the final whistle despite concerted efforts from both sides. Vietnam remained on top of Group G with 11 points, three clear of third-placed Thailand and two above second-placed Malaysia, who crushed Indonesia with two unanswered goals on the same day.
