NA Chairwoman pays officials visits to Russia and Belarus

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan paid official visits to Russia from December 8-12 and Belarus from December 12-14 at the invitation of Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, Speaker of the Belarusian Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairman of the Belarusian House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko.

During her stay in Russia, the NA leader met with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and held talks with Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko and Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. NA Chairwoman Ngan attended the first meeting of the inter-parliamentary cooperation committee of the Vietnamese NA and the Russian State Duma as well as received many Russian officials and Vietnamese people.

Visiting Belarus, the top legislator met with President Alexander Lukashenko, held talks with Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova and Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Belarusian NA Vladimir Andreichenko, and had a meeting with Prime Minister Sergey Nikolayevich Rumas, among others.

Vietnam’s ‘Then’ practice honoured as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

‘Then’, an essential ritual practice in the spiritual life of Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic people in Vietnam, has been added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The practices of Then reflect concepts about human beings, nature and the universe. Then ceremonies describe a journey in which the Master controls ghost soldiers travelling from earth to heaven to present items of worship and prayers for peace, good crops, and good health.

Vietnam attends 33rd conference of Red Cross & Red Crescent

Vietnam attended the 33rd International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, which kicked off in Geneva, Switzerland.

In the framework of the event, the Vietnamese delegation had meetings and working sessions with officials of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the IFRC and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of the US, Germany, France, Switzerland, Australia, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia.

Vietnam concludes SEA Games with third position

Vietnam returned home with 98 gold, 85 silver and 105 bronze medals from the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines, settling for second place overall 51 golds behind the Philippines and six clear of third-placed Thailand.

After 60 years of waiting, Vietnam have finally realised the dream of clinching their first-ever SEA Games men’s football title following their fantastic 3-0 victory against Indonesia in the final match.

National Television Festival opens in Khanh Hoa Province

The 39th edition of the National Television Festival was held in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa.

A total of 30 gold, 54 silver and four individuals prizes, as well as 126 certificates of merit, were awarded to the most outstanding entries.

At the event

The fourth Vietnam Rice Festival 2019 was held in Vinh Long City, the Mekong River Delta of the same name.

As many as 105 outstanding organisations and individuals were honoured for their significant contributions to the development of collectives in Vietnam over the past two years.
