Government issues resolution to support those hurt by COVID-19
The Vietnamese government has issued a resolution on providing financial support to people that have been affected by the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) epidemic.
This is aimed at employees who have had their jobs suspended for a month or longer because their enterprises do not have resources to pay due to Covid-19, workers who lost their jobs but are ineligible for unemployment benefits, national contributors and social welfare beneficiaries and households below or near the poverty line; as well as at employers facing financial difficulties that have already paid half of the wages to their employees and household businesses with taxable revenue of less than VND100 million (US$4,288) a year.
The government’s resolution clearly dictates that the state, enterprises and whole of society share the responsibility of ensuring the lives of those affected by the epidemic.

The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee convened an extraordinary meeting in Hanoi to discuss support to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chairing the meeting, NA leader Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that amid the complex developments of the pandemic, Vietnam has seen a decrease in the number of infections as well as an increase of recovered cases.
She requested that after policies are issued, departments and agencies must immediately act to offer timely support to residents, as well as enhance inspection to prevent negative behaviours and lack of transparency in implementation.
Over half of COVID-19 cases in Vietnam have recovered
Vietnam has reported that over half of its confirmed COVID-19 cases have recovered.
As of April 12, 260 cases have been recorded in Vietnam, with 144 having recovered and none resulting in death.
According to Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam, Vietnam has managed to keep the number of cases at a low level despite being a high-risk country sharing a long border with China, where the COVID-19 first emerged.
He also warned that a long fight remains ahead and there is no room for complacency.

Four Vietnamese entrepreneurs have been named in the list of the world’s richest people in 2020 by Forbes magazine.
They are Chairman of private conglomerate Vingroup Pham Nhat Vuong, ranked 286th; CEO of budget carrier Vietjet Air Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, 1,001st; Chairman of Truong Hai Auto Corporation (Thaco) Tran Ba Duong, 1,415th; and Chairman of Techcombank Ho Hung Anh, 1,990th.
Official English version of “Ghen Co Vy” released
The official English version of the catchy hand-washing song “Ghen Co Vy” was released officially, encouraging people to adopt personal preventive habits amid the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The song is part of a creative health communications project #EndCoV by the MoH’s National Institute of Occupational and Environmental Health in collaboration with musician Khac Hung, singers Min and Erik, dancer Quang Dang, and Goodwill Ambassador Chau Bui.
The English version, also featuring sign language, is available on MoH’s official website and on YouTube.

Nghiem Xuan Huy, founder and CEO of Finhay
Three young entrepreneurs with innovative startup projects supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology through its Project 844 have been named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list.
The three Vietnamese representatives are Nghiem Xuan Huy (the founder and CEO of startup Finhay), Han Ngoc Tuan Linh (a co-founder and CEO of Vietnam Silicon Valley Capital) and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen (the founder of an innovative medical technology startup - Medlink Asia).
Vietnam retain 94th position in latest FIFA rankings
Vietnam continued to safeguard their No. 1 position in Southeast Asia with 1,258 points as the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) announced the latest men’s world rankings.
No teams were promoted in the FIFA standings this month after all international football matches at national team level were “frozen” due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Vietnam’s Son Doong Cave has been listed among the 10 best virtual tours of natural wonders around the world that were introduced by the UK newspaper The Guardian to readers who are remaining at home due to the COVID-19 epidemic to, including Vietnam’s Son Doong Cave.
Son Doong 360 is a project by National Geographic aiming to preserve the cave in digital form before it becomes subject to extensive tourism development.
