National Reunification Day marked in localities nationwide

Various activities were held across the country to mark the 45th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-2020).

A delegation of Party, State, Government and National Assembly leaders led by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Hanoi and laid a wreath at the monument dedicated to heroes and martyrs on Bac Son Street on the morning of April 30.

A flag-raising ceremony was held at the Hien Luong-Ben Hai historical relic site in Vinh Linh District, in the central province of Quang Tri, on Thursday to mark the 45th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

PM instructs resumption of socio-economic activities while maintaining high vigilance for epidemic

On April 28, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked localities to resume social activities and re-start economic sectors with high a level of safety while strictly following epidemic prevention plans.

He permitted local authorities to promote tourism for the National Reunification Day holiday on April 30 but that gatherings of large numbers of people should continue to be banned, stressing that people must still wear face masks outdoor.

PM Phuc also called for continued vigilance against the epidemic and urged medical workers, especially those on the frontlines, to stay alert.

Support package quickly deployed to ease COVID-19 difficulties

Localities across the nation are urgently deploying a VND62 trillion (US$2.7 billion) support package from the State to ease difficulties for people suffering from the COVID-19 outbreak.

About 20 million people affected by the pandemic will benefit from the social security support policy under the support package.

The VND62 trillion social security support package is a huge, unprecedented and urgent budget to support people and businesses, helping to ease the hardships caused by the pandemic. Grasping that spirit, right from the beginning of April, localities across the nation have made great efforts to quickly deploy the package and start providing support to social welfare beneficiary groups covered by the support policy.

Vietnam records no new COVID-19 cases in community for 17 days

Vietnam recorded no new cases of COVID-19 on the morning of May 3, marking 17 days in a row since April 16 without any new infections in the community, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Of the 270 confirmed patients, 130 were imported cases who were quarantined upon their arrival.

Up to 219 patients, or 81%, have made full recovery, while the 51 others are receiving treatment at medical establishments nationwide.

Twelve of the patients have tested negative for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once and nine others tested negative twice or more.

Hanoi dismantles all 30 COVID-19 quarantine posts

Hanoi authorities dismantled all 30 of the COVID-19 checkpoints located at important gateways and traffic intersects in the capital city on April 29, following an order from the Hanoi People's Committee.

After nearly one month, thousands of people and vehicles have been inspected at the posts, with medical examinations carried out in less than one minute for each turn in order to avoid inconvenience for people.

Vietnam has over 600,000 active enterprises: white paper

As of December 31, 2018, 44.1% of enterprises in Vietnam were generating profit.

There were 610,637 enterprises in Vietnam as of December 31, 2018, contributing over 60% of the country’s total GDP, according to a white paper released by the General Statistics Office on April 28.

Among them, 44.1% were generating profit while 48.4% were operating at a loss, official data showed.

Enterprises in the services sector accounted for 68.7% of total enterprises in Vietnam, up 7.3% from 2017 while those in industrial production and farming totalled 30.2% and 1.1%, respectively.

VNPT’s VinaPhone 5G network reaches 2.2 Gbps

Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has successfully tested its VinaPhone 5G network in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, test results have shown that the VinaPhone5G network achieved a download throughput of more than 2.2 Gbps, 10 times faster than the 4G network, and a latency of almost zero.

These results are close to the world's 5G standards and the best 5G test results ever achieved in Vietnam.
