NA candidates meet with voters nationwide
Candidates to deputies of the 15th National Assembly around the country met with local voters as part of their election campaigns.
Accordingly, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong joined other candidates in holding a meeting with voters in the capital city of Hanoi in both in-person and online forms.
Meanwhile, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue conducted their election campaigns in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho Province and Hai Phong City.
Through the meetings, almost all voters agree with the candidates’ action plans and hope that they will fulfil their promises if elected.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presided over the Government’s April meeting, which was the first meeting of the Cabinet after it completed the personnel work last month.
During the meeting, Government members discussed the COVID-19 fight and preparations for the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure.
They also looked into the Government’s draft action programme on the implementation of the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress, and the socio-economic situation in April and the first four months of this year, among others.
Vietnam among top three buying geographies of US firms
A new report finds that 43 percent of US-based respondents cited Vietnam among their top three buying geographies as of early 2021, double the figure from 2019, according to Material Handling & Logistics, a US website.
The data shows a 16% year-over-year increase in demand for inspections and audits in Vietnam in the first quarter of this year, which represents a third consecutive quarter of growth that had initially begun as a post-lockdown rebound in mid-2020, the article cited a report from QIMA, a provider of supply chain compliance solutions.

Further new COVID-19 infections have been reported in many localities around the country.
Specifically, two central-level hospitals, namely the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases 2 in Dong Anh District and the National Cancer Hospital (also known as K Hospital), were put under medical lockdown following the recording of several COVID-19 infections.
The Ministry of Health also decided to extend the compulsory concentrated quarantine period to 21 days instead of 14 days as previously.
First Vietnam International Photography Festival launched
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has decided to hold the first ever Vietnam International Photography Festival.
The event comprises a competition to select a logo for the festival, an exhibition in Ninh Binh showcasing 250 photos of Vietnam through the lenses of foreign photographers, and a host of symposiums.

Vietnamese rowers Luong Thi Thao and Dinh Thi Hao performed brilliantly in the Asia and Oceania Olympic qualification tournament in Japan to officially secure their place in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, rescheduled for this summer.
In the women’s lightweight doubles sculls final, Thao and Hao finished their heat in second with a time of 7min 17.34sec, 1.5 seconds slower than the duo from the host country.
Campaign launched to promote Japanese tourism in Vietnam
The Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) in Vietnam launched a campaign entitled “I love Japan”, aiming to maintain the interest and love for Japanese tourism as well as to encourage the need to travel to Japan in the Vietnamese market in the difficult context of the COVID-19 epidemic.
The two-part campaign includes a photo contest which takes place from May 5 to July 5, 2021, and a writing contest from July 5 to September 6, 2021. The contest welcomes the participation of all people living in Vietnam.
