Winners of English debate contest for youth officials awarded

The winners of the national English debate contest for youth officials were awarded at a ceremony held in Binh Thuan province on September 30.

Team DAV from the Youth Union of Centrally-run Agencies Bloc won the first prize while the second prize went to THE A.C.E team from the Hoa Binh provincial Youth Union.

Teams SMARTICLES and WARRIORS from Youth Unions of Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Thuan province, respectively, were presented with the third prize.

The contest was launched by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee in June for youth officials aged between 18 to 35 from the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Vietnamese Students’ Association, and the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation at all levels across the country.

It aimed to provide a venue for young participants to broaden their thinking capacity, improve their communication skills, and enhancing English capacity.

The topics for debate focussed on the operation of youth associations as well as issues that attract the world’s interest, including the environment, culture, education, start-ups, and digital transformation.

After the qualification round at the provincial level, the organising board selected 52 teams with 156 contestants to enter the national round, with four of them entering the final round.
