Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) chief executive officer Nasaruddin Abdul Mutallib was quoted by the New Straits Times as saying that the requirement is in line with Langkawi's status as the gateway for international tourists visiting other destinations in Malaysia.
For international tourists who are planning to visit Langkawi alone, the minimum stay period has been set for three days.
In a related event, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on November 15 said Malaysia’s National Table Top Exercise was conducted over the past few days to prepare for a surge in healthcare capacity after the national COVID-19 infectivity rate rose above 1.0.
The rate has been on the rise starting November 6 and stood at 1.05 for the second consecutive day on November 14.
