The logo stood apart from 167 entries sent by 61 competitors across the country to a design contest launched by the MCST’s Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition in April 2019.

The upper part of the logo features a lotus flower, which was voted as the national flower of Vietnam, with three petals symbolising the three pillars of the ASEAN Community. The lotus flower next to the official emblem of ASEAN.

On the lower part of the logo, a flying ‘Lac’ bird – a legendary bird of Vietnam, is modified to appear like a boat bringing the ASEAN Community to move forward.

The logo is presented in yellow, red and blue with yellow representing prosperity, optimism and joy; red for dynamism, energy and determination, and blue for peace, wisdom, and trust.

It reflects “Cohesive and Responsive” which is the theme of the ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020.
