According to the ministry, the latest infections were found in 18 cities and provinces, with eight fatalities.

The number of infections in Vientiane still remained high, at 576, and most of the deaths were recorded in the capital city.

The new infections have brought Laos’ total caseload to 75,163, with 178 fatalities.

The Lao government has asked localities to seriously observe issued pandemic prevention and control measures, while preparing the budget for purchasing medical supplies, vaccines and treatment drugs to serve the pandemic combat.

The country has recently received a batch of medical supplies worth more than 600,000 USD donated by the Japanese Government through the United Nations Project Services Agency (UNOPS).
