Chinese President Xi Jinping on March 22 demanded all-out efforts to search and rescue victims after an industrial park explosion in east China's Jiangsu Province killed 47 and seriously injured 90.

* Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a letter to his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan, greeting him on the occasion of Pakistan's national day, confirmed an official source in the Indian external affairs ministry on March 23. Pakistan's national day is celebrated every year on March 23.

* The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) withdrew from the joint liaison office with the Republic of Korea (RoK) in the DPRK's border town of Kaesong, Seoul's unification ministry said on March 22.

* A national petition to the British Parliament calling for Brexit to be cancelled received more than 2 million signatures by Thursday (March 21) night. The petition has called on Prime Minister Theresa May's government to cancel Britain's departure from the European Union (EU) and to revoke Article 50 process.

* Russia will take necessary measures if the United States implements its plans to conduct anti-missile tests, the Russian Foreign Ministry said March 22.

* The Palestinian Foreign Ministry on March 23 rejected US President Donald Trump's tweeted recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights as "a boost to colonialism and the acquisition of territory by force."

* Chinese President Xi Jinping and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte held talks in Roma on March 23 on jointly elevating the China-Italy relations into a new era and witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding to jointly advance the construction of the Belt and Road.

* An Afghan lawmaker was shot dead in Kandahar city, capital of southern province of Kandahar on March 23, in a latest targeted killing in the country, local police confirmed.

* At least six people were killed and 13 others injured when a wall of a private school collapsed in Pakistan's east Gujranwala district on March 23, local reports said.
