The Arab League (AL) expressed on April 14 its support for the "important steps" announced by Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) to reach a political transition in the country, the AL said in a statement.

* Poland will become the special partner of the 16th China-ASEAN Expo slated for Sept. 20 to 23 in Nanning, the capital city of southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, according to the expo secretariat.

* French President Emmanuel Macron will address the nation on April 15 evening to unveil measures to ease social tension and respond to "yellow vest" complaints, state-run France Info radio reported on April 14.

* The Cuban government is working to rescue two doctors abducted in Kenya by suspected Al-Shabaab militants, said President Miguel Diaz-Canel on April 14.

* The Venezuelan government on April 14 denounced the US sanctions targeting its state-owned oil company PDVSA for the "criminal impact" on the Venezuelan people. The sanctions blocked the country's access to oil revenues and its ability to pay for key social and health programs, the government said in a statement.

* Chinese authorities on April 14 unveiled a guideline on reforming the country's property rights system for natural resource assets.

* A total of 147 people have been killed and 614 others wounded in the fighting between the UN-backed Libyan government and the east-based army in and around the capital Tripoli so far, the World Health Organization (WHO) said late on April 14.

* At least six civilians were killed and seven others wounded on April 14 by rebel mortar shelling in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, state news agency SANA reported.

* About seven children were killed and 10 others wounded after a mortar shell exploded on outskirts of Mehtarlam, capital of Afghanistan's eastern province of Laghman on April 14, provincial government spokesman Assadullah Dawlatzai said.

* Forces of the UN-backed Libyan government on April 14 announced downing of a fighter jet of the eastern-based army in the south of the capital Tripoli.
