In an article entitled “13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam - Path to new success” that was published in the magazine “Multipolar World”, Dr Evgeny Kobelev, an expert from the Centre for Vietnamese and ASEAN Studies of the Far East Institute under the Russian Academy of Sciences, stated that amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam's economy is still growing.
Its responsible foreign policy has greatly helped maintain regional peace and stability, realise socio-economic development targets, and safeguard its sovereignty, he added.
* The Rusvesna (Russian Spring) e-newspaper also ran an article expressing impression on Vietnam’s achievements in economic development, poverty reduction, COVID-19 prevention and control and foreign affairs under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).
The article stated that among the nearly 30 countries that posted positive gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2020, Vietnam emerged with a growth rate of over 2.9%. Vietnam reaped many successes in 2020, helping the country's position increasingly enhanced in Asia Pacific.
* The International Monetary Fund (IMF) continues to give a positive assessment on Vietnam's effective response to COVID-19. In a post in The Print, an Indian online newspaper, Assistant Director of the IMF’s Asia & Pacific Department Helge Berger noted local restrictions and rapid testing and tracing as some of the key measures adopted in Vietnam in response to the outbreak, hence allowing the economy to return to normal.
* On January 12, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWI) reported on the first meeting of the Vietnam-Germany Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation that was held online earlier that day.
At the event, German Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier said Vietnam and Germany has long been linked by a close and strong partnership which both sides want to further advance through the meeting.
The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which entered into force in August last year, has provided significant impetus for intensifying the bilateral trade relations, he noted.
