Indonesia records 0.13 percent inflation in April 2021

Indonesia recorded inflation of 0.13 percent in April 2021, higher than the previous month's 0.08 percent, the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said on Monday.

"The inflation rate for January 2021 to April 2021 is 0.58 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate is 1.42 percent," said Deputy for Distribution and Service Statistics of BPS, Setianto.

Inflation occurred due to an increase in the price of several commodities, such as broiler meat 0.06 percent, as well as cooking oil, oranges, gold jewelry, grapes, papaya, fresh fish, and kretek cigarettes by 0.01 percent.

Based on expenditure categories, inflation was mainly supported by increases in prices for the food, beverage, and tobacco group by 0.20 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.19 percent; equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group by 0.26 percent; the health group of 0.18 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.20 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.21 percent; and personal care and other services group of 0.29 percent.
