The international community also welcomed and highly appreciated the initiative, considering it a vivid demonstration of Vietnam's creative, proactive and determined spirit to ensure sustainable resources for the fight against the epidemic that still faces many hurdles ahead.

Recently, Vietnam has achieved positive results in the prevention and control of the epidemic, upholding its role as a responsible member of the international community. On the basis of the results achieved, in order to truly bring Vietnam's fight against the epidemic to a comprehensive victory, the "powerful weapon" we cannot ignore is the vaccine against COVID-19.

In that context, the Government decided to establish a Vaccine Fund for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, with the aim of receiving, managing and using domestic and foreign donations, supports, and contributions to join with the State budget in the purchase and import of vaccines, as well as researching and producing locally-made vaccines to immunise the community.

The international community has highly lauded Vietnam's initiative to establish the vaccine fund. An article published recently in Nikkei Asia said the establishment of the fund is of great significance in the efforts to vaccinate the Vietnamese people, as it is an important weapon in the fight against the pandemic and in protecting the manufacturing supply chain.

The fund has not only attracted the attention and contributions of domestic organisations, businesses and individuals but also those from abroad. Nikkei Asia stated that European businesses have expressed their desire to participate and contribute to the fund.

Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) Alain Cany welcomed the establishment of the fund and said that European businesses wishing to participate in supporting the fund is a very positive move.

Meanwhile, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam Mary Tarnowka affirmed that many member businesses of her association have expressed their willingness to support vaccination costs for their employees.

Representatives of various international organisations in Vietnam, including the UN and its agencies such as WHO and UNDP, as well as the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, also welcomed the initiative to establish the Vaccine Fund for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Through donations and support to the vaccine fund, overseas Vietnamese communities in many countries around the world such as Laos, Cambodia, Russia, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, Mozambique and Egypt have expressed their warm sentiments towards their homeland with noble gestures, contributing both material and spiritual resources to the country's fight against the pandemic.

The sincere feelings, sharing, concern and sense of responsibility of overseas Vietnamese people far from their homeland have created a source of encouragement and great strength to help the Government and the local community step by step repel and win the war against the epidemic.
