The first session of the 16th National Assembly (NA), which is set to officially convene early this week, will be the first sitting following the success of the second Plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee and the election of deputies to the 16th NA and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

Personnel affairs at the 16th National Assembly (NA)’s first session will follow a rigorous, systematic, and proper procedural process under the Party’s direct leadership, in line with the Constitution and the laws, Vice Chairwoman of the NA Committee for Deputy Affairs Ta Thi Yen told a press conference in Ha Noi on April 3.

During its first session schemed to start next week, the 16th National Assembly (NA) will consider and adopt a series of key resolutions on the five-year socio-economic development plan for 2026–2030, the national five-year financial plan, the public debt borrowing and repayment plan, and the medium-term public investment plan for the same period, said Pham Thi Hong Yen, a full-time member of the NA’s Committee for Economic and Financial Affairs.

The 16th National Assembly (NA) will consider key personnel matters at its first session, including the election of the NA Chairperson, State President, and Prime Minister, said Vice Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Van Hien at a press briefing in Ha Noi on April 3.
