According to the latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), agro-forestry-fishery exports in July were estimated at US$3.55 billion, bringing the total export value of the sector in the first three months of 2019 to US$8.8 billion, down 2.9% compared to the same period in 2018.
In particular, the export value of the main agricultural products were at US$10.84 billion, while the seafood export value were estimated at nearly U$$4.68 billion, and the export value of the main forestry products was US$ 6.01 billion.
Several items witnessed significant increases in export value in the first seven months including rubber with exports reaching US$1.1 billion, an annual increase of 10.7%; rice (US$1.73 billion, up 2.1%), and cashew (US$1.8 billion, up 13.3%), and woodwork items (over US$5.6 billion, up 16.1%).
The MARD also announced that the value of agro-forestry and fishery imports during January-July reached US$18 billion, adding to the nearly US$5 billion surplus for the sector during the seven-month period.
