Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers meet in Hanoi

Nearly 300 soldiers and youth volunteers directly engaging in the Dien Bien Phu campaign 70 years ago looked back on the 56-day battle, the victory of which led to the signing of the Geneva Accords on ending the war and restoring peace in Indochina, at a meeting in Hanoi on April 23.

Hanoi leaders pay tribute to Lenin on his birthday

A delegation of the Hanoi Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee on April 22 laid wreaths at Vladimir Ilyich Lenin’s statue in Lenin Park on Dien Bien Phu Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, on the occasion of his 154th birthday (April 22, 1870).

The preparations had been completed, and the combat missions of the second phase continued to be carried out. Vietnamese soldiers continued to dig trenches surrounding the enemy’s bunkers, with the trenches in many places only 15 to 30 meters away from the enemy bunkers.
A1 Martyrs Cemetery is not to be missed by any tourist when arriving in Dien Bien. The cemetery serves as a historical witness, reminding young generations to always follow the example and remember the merits of the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed heroically to create the victory of Dien Bien Phu.

These days, the atmosphere of the whole country marks the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), with many delegations from all over returning to Dien Bien to visit relics that have been associated with the previous generation.
