Presiding over the conference, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the committee’s Commission for Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia commended the achievements and highlighted the positive changes in one year since the Politburo issued Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW which focuses on continuously improving the quality and effectiveness of the external information work in the new context.

Nghia, who is also head of the steering committee, said the steering committee as well as provincial and municipal steering boards have seriously translated the document into reality, issuing directive documents and systematically implementing its key contents, especially the five main tasks and solutions.

He noted in the last half and beyond, it is necessary to further step up the information and communication work to promote domestic policies and efforts for strengthening partnerships with major countries and key partners, the significance of visits, and the prospects for cooperative relations. The mission needs to be done using a wide range of communication forms.

Nghia said it is crucial to monitor and understand public opinion to proactively guide related communication efforts and counter false and hostile viewpoints with the aim of fostering social consensus and gain international support.

The flow of information about national values, Vietnamese cultural values, and socio-economic achievements should be strengthened, he noted.

The Party official also called for enhancing the quality of advisory and coordination work among member agencies of the steering committee, as well as between the committee and Vietnamese representative agencies and Vietnam's resident press bureaus abroad.

He said there is a need to improve research, forecasting, and the ability to respond swiftly to strategic changes in the international and regional environment, ensuring a proactive and advantageous position on the domestic and international media front. Additionally, efforts should be made to elevate the prestige of the National External Information Service Awards, Nghia added.
