Bac Lieu is currently implementing a number of measures to step up investment promotion and support, focusing on attracting investment into its five socio-economic development pillars, including agriculture (especially high-tech agriculture and improving shrimp and rice production efficiency); industry (focusing on clean and renewable energy); tourism; trade and services (high-quality education and health); and the maritime economy associated with ensuring defence & security.
In the near future, the province will call for large-scale projects, selecting major, reputable and financially capable investors, while also giving priority to small and medium scale projects that match with its potential, strengths and conditions.
In order to boost investment promotion and support, Thieu said that in the time to come, Bac Lieu will diversify and renovate its investment promotion forms towards improving the quality of the work. In addition, businesses and investors will be actively assisted in removing their difficulties and obstacles through in-person meetings and dialogues with the provincial authorities.
At the same time, the province will implement many activities to help enterprises connect according to clusters of industries and value chains such as connecting food safety chains in rice production and consumption, aquaculture, fishing and seafood processing, the official added.
Also, Bac Lieu will continue to simplify its administrative procedures, striving to reduce the processing time to four working hours regarding the granting of a business registration certificate, three working days for investment certificate issuance, and one working day for investment certificate adjustment, from the date of fully receiving the valid dossiers
So far this year, Bac Lieu has licensed 140 businesses with a registered capital of VND1.63 trillion (US$70.86 million), up 25% year-on-year in the number of businesses and 69% in registered value.
To date, the Mekong Delta province has attracted 163 projects, including 149 by domestic investors worth VND41.9 trillion and 14 foreign-invested with total capital of US$4.489 billion.
