Speaking at the opening, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konsatin V.Vnukov said that the event aims to introduce high-quality products from Russia to Vietnamese customers, while promoting the cooperation potential between businesses from the two countries.
The two-day event also aims at realising the Vietnam – Russia Free Trade Agreement (FTA), as well as other FTAs between Vietnam and the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, which target bringing the two-day trade turnover to US$ 10 billion by 2020.
Nguyen Van Suu, Vice Chairman of Hanoi City People’s Committee, highly appreciated the Russian Exports Centre and the Hanoi Television for co-organising the event and called for more regular trade exchanges between Russian and Hanoian businesses.
Statistics show that Vietnam and Russia have enjoyed a bilateral trade turnover of US$2.4 billion over the first seven months of this year, an annual increase of 18%.
In the first half of 2017, Russia’s export value of agricultural products to Vietnam reached US$ 170 million, 9.3 times higher than the same period last year. Russian customers have also shown great interest in Vietnamese products such as tea, coffee and pepper.
