The parliament speaker made the request at a meeting with PVN leaders on January 17.

She said that the Party and State always appreciate the group’s important role in national development and defence by paying attention to fine-tuning the laws and regulations concerning petroleum activities.

At the working session, Ngan was briefed on the PVN’s performance in 2018 and its plans for 2019, and discussed challenges facing the firm with its leaders.

She recognised the firm’s restructuring efforts and praised its VND120 trillion (US$5.16 billion) contribution to the state budget last year despite being mired in numerous difficulties.

For his part, PVN Chairman Tran Sy Thanh stated that the oil group will strive hard to fulfil the assigned tasks in 2019.
