Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee Hoang Gia Long said that currently, the complicated situation of the COVID-19 epidemic in Ha Giang Province and many localities across the country has affected the consumption activities of agricultural products in general and orange products in particular.
However, the province has directed relevant sectors to actively implement scenarios and plans on the consumption of orange products, including the promotion of consumption through e-commerce platforms.
Up to now, the cooperatives have basically operated well the online store on the e-commerce platform, through which the product consumption has achieved initial positive results. The output of oranges in the provinces of Ha Giang and Tuyen Quang in 2021 saw a decrease in output, while Ham Yen oranges (Tuyen Quang Province) have now entered the main season.
It is forecasted that when the epidemic situation is basically under control, people's demand during Tet increases, consumption of orange products has more positive signs.
For Ha Giang in particular, in the coming time, it is necessary to strengthen the implementation of orange quality control to ensure food safety; continue to coordinate in implementing promotional activities to consume products as planned; regularly update information on the market and prices, in order to timely forecast and provide information to organisations and individuals producing and consuming oranges; and focus on supporting cooperatives and orange growing households in promoting and selling their products on media channels and e-commerce platforms such as: sendo.vn, voso.vn, dacsanhagiang.vn.
In recent times, the VCA has directly organised many online trade support programmes to help cooperatives achieve efficiency in conquering foreign markets.
This conference is also considered as an opportunity for cooperatives and orange farmers in Ha Giang Province to access and expand product consumption markets, contributing to promoting linkages and consumption of Ha Giang orange products to the market.
This is also an opportunity for the locality to see the actual situation of orange production and consumption in the province. From there, there is a specific plan, especially the planning of planting areas in accordance with the market demand as well as the potential of the locality; and devise appropriate orientations, mechanisms and policies for sustainable development of Ha Giang oranges.
