The event aimed to analyse and evaluate the policy and current planning of the Ngoc Linh ginseng growing area to find solutions to expand the raw material area and improve the value of Ngoc Linh ginseng, contributing to making Ngoc Linh ginseng become a national brand.
Speaking at the workshop,President Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that, in addition to the health values, Ngoc Linh ginseng also contains great economic potential and is an opportunity to affirm national pride.
The President once again emphasised his belief that Ngoc Linh ginseng can be used to improve the livelihood of the people and bring new hope for Vietnam to promote the pharmaceutical and functional food industry.
The President highly appreciated the provinces of Quang Nam and Kon Tum,including many businesses for actively preserving and developing Ngoc Linh ginseng, expanding the area of cultivation and research, and creating many new products from this special rare plant of Vietnam.
However, the President also pointed out inadequacies that need to be overcome in the development of Ngoc Linh ginseng such as climate change, counterfeit goods, and the lack of diverse products from Ngoc Linh ginseng, and others.
At the event, representatives of Quang Nam and Kon Tum Provincial People’s Committees signed a memorandum of understanding to advocate for the establishment of the Vietnam Ngoc Linh Ginseng Association. The establishment of the Association is the basis to protect the ginseng varieties and build Ngoc Linh ginseng into a national brand in the future.
