Sharing about the connection in cuisine of the two countries, Francesco Arcuri, Deputy Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam, said that although Vietnam and Italy are located on two different continents, nearly 9,000 km apart, there are clear differences yet also fascinating similarities in their culinary traditions and cultures.
Arcuri also noted that a new feature of this year’s food fair is the connection between Vietnamese and Italian cuisine, highlighting the similarities and relationships between the two sides.

This event is part of the “Italy Food Week in Vietnam 2024”, which aims to honour the differences and similarities of the two cultures, especially through street food.

At the festival, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy signature dishes from both Vietnam and Italy, prepared by famous Italian and Vietnamese restaurants in Hanoi, such as Gelato Italia, Luna d’Autunno, Fiorentina, Mediterraneo, Caffè Italia, Dragoncello, Cugini, Sanzio, Mano, and Ngon Restaurant (in Hanoi).
The highlight of the festival is the introduction and presentation of traditional street food dishes from both Italy and Vietnam including fried rice balls (supplì), pork sandwich (porchetta), sandwich with cow stomach sauce (lampredotto), fried pizza (pizza fritta), grilled meat skewers with green sauce (spiedini di maiale con salsa verde), Hanoi shrimp cakes, Hue clear steamed tapioca cake (banh bot loc), shrimp and pork spring rolls, lotus seed and longan sweet soup with palm sugar, and more.
