At an October 11 reception for a delegation of the Vietnam–UK Network, headed by its president, Ben Chapman, Tuyen noted that the city was focusing on a number of areas, including the construction of an international-level financial centre and a smart city, as well as the handling of flooding and environmental pollution, the issues arising during the urban development process.
He asked the Network to enhance co-operation and introduce experienced UK investors, particularly overseas Vietnamese experts and businesspersons, to participate in HCMC’s development fields, thus contributing to the construction and development of the city in the future.
Chapman said that the Vietnam–UK Network had a lot of members, including hundreds of overseas Vietnamese, who were working in various fields but shared the same interest in Vietnam, wishing to develop the UK and Vietnam’s friendly relations and to contribute to HCMC’s development.
The economic ties between the UK and HCMC had yet to meet their potential and the expectations of both sides, the guest said, adding that the Network would boost exchanges and trade promotion between UK and HCMC businesses, aiming to increase bilateral trade and investment values.
The Network was willing to share experience with HCMC in fields of concern to the city, such as building a financial hub and developing a smart city, Chapman noted.
