Since it was approved by the Prime Minister in 2018, the OCOP programme has contributed to changing the practices of rural communities, paving the way for new manufacturing models and trade of traditional goods, that are of local advantages.
The programme encompasses three primary goals: developing organised production and business forms, changing the economic structure to improve incomes, and advancing agriculture and production in rural areas.
After over five years of implementation, Ho Chi Minh City has 191 OCOP products, including 79 four-star and 112 three-star products.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dinh Minh Hiep, Director of the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, highly appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the city’s businesses, cooperatives, and individuals in the OCOP programme.
He stressed that the programme has contributed to increasing income, and creating jobs for local people while accelerating the building of new rural areas in the city.
