According to Assoc. Prof. Piotr Tsvetov, many collections of works by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong have been published over the past two years. This proves his significant contributions to understanding the experience of building socialism in Vietnam and developing the theoretical and practical foundation for Vietnam's progression towards socialism.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong compared Vietnamese diplomatic policy to bamboo with firm roots — unshakable interests in defending independence and sovereignty; a solid stalk — the unity among the Vietnamese people and with people from other countries; and flexible branches — changing tactics in response to international developments.
Piotr Tsvetov affirmed that analysing the foreign policy activities of the Communist Party and State of Vietnam, it can be concluded that bamboo-character diplomacy is the foundation of Vietnam's conduct on the international stage.
