President receives new foreign ambassadors

Nhan Dan/VNA – President Truong Tan Sang on March 6 received the new ambassadors of Pakistan, Brunei, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Myanmar, Thailand, Djibouti, Marshall Islands and Suriname in Hanoi.

The leader confirmed the support for the ambassadors to successfully accomplish their missions in Vietnam .

He noted that Vietnam and the countries need to step up their economic and investment co-operation for the sake of their people’s prosperity.

The diplomats vowed to do their utmost to enhance their countries’ ties with Vietnam , suggesting that they increase high-level exchanges and carefully review commitments for effective implementation in the future.

Brunei Ambassador Pengiran HS bin PH Salleh expressed his hope of learning from Vietnam’s experience in agricultural development and to boost co-operation with Vietnam in culture, education, tourism and labour.

UAE Ambassador Khalid Ibrahim Abdulaziz Shohail Al-Qahtani said the two countries could co-operate in trade, investment and labour while Kazak Ambassador Beketzhan Zhumakhanov underlined the need to create a legal foundation to make this possible.

The Egyptian diplomat, Youssef Kamal Boutros Hanna, said his country wants to study Vietnam’s experience in economic development.

Thai Ambassador Panyarak Poolthup confirmed that his country will make every effort to raise its trade with Vietnam to US$15 billion.
The Ambassador of Djibouti, Ahmed Araita Ali, stated that his country will be a gateway for Vietnamese goods to go to the African and Arab markets. He wished to receive more investment from Vietnam in the areas of agriculture, aquaculture, healthcare and education.

Marshall Islands Ambassador Tom Kijiner, for his part, emphasised the necessity of signing a visa exemption agreement to push up exchanges and co-operation between the two countries.

The Ambassador of Suriname, Lloyd Lucien Pinas, voiced his wish to acquire Vietnam ’s assistance in developing agriculture and small and medium-sized enterprises.
