President Aliyev stated that his visit to Vietnam in 2014 and President Truong Tan Sang’s visit to Azerbaijan in 2015 were significant events, helping to open a new chapter in their bilateral relationship.

He added that Azerbaijan values its cooperation with the Asia-Pacific region in general and Vietnam in particular, affirming that the two countries should foster their cooperation in traditional areas, especially in the oil industry.

The president also noted that the two-way trade value remains modest and suggested increasing merchandise exports, while concretising the results of the second meeting of the joint committee for economic, trade, scientific and technological cooperation, held in Baku last June.

For his part, Ambassador Manh expressed his wish that various activities would be held in 2019 to mark the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s first visit to Azerbaijan, an idea that President Aliyev said he fully supports.

The Vietnamese diplomat also affirmed that he will focus on activities to foster bilateral cooperation, connect enterprises of the two countries and promote visits between the two countries’ ministries and agencies in the future.
